The Día de Andalucía ("Day of Andalusia" or "Andalusia Day") is celebrated February 28 and commemorates the February 28, 1980 referendum on the Statute of Autonomy of Andalusia, in which the Andalusian electorate voted for the statute that made Andalusia an autonomous community of Spain.
This Wednesday 26 in IES Carmen de Burgos we celebrate it with a traditional Andalusian breakfast consisting of a slice of toast with a thin layer of olive oil and orange juice and the students will also attend different activities framed in the Cultural Week. They color pictures too that refer to the symbols and insignia of Andalusia, its history and customs.. and sing the regional anthem, the Himno de Andalucía.
The Andalusian anthem
-
- The Green and White Flag
- returns after centuries of war
- to tell of Peace and Hope
- under our Land's sunshine.
- — Chorus —
- Andalusians, Stand up!
- Demand Land and Freedom
- for a free Andalusia,
- Spain and Mankind.
- We, Andalusians, want
- to become once again
- People of Light who to Mankind
- gave a Human Soul.
- — Chorus —
- Andalusians, Stand up!
- Demand Land and Freedom
- for a free Andalusia,
- Spain and Mankind.
- PABLO ALBORÁN....ANDALUCÍA
